I have added Machine Freehand Embroidery to my Textile Art work during the last few years, which has evolved from my love of Nature & the Landscapes I am surrounded by and the ecological disaster we are faced with.
Often my Printmaking is from original drawings made here in the English & French rural countryside and from photographs taken on walks with a dog near my home. Sometimes painting on boards and canvas - both Landscapes & Abstracts from dreamscapes and imagined places, these paintings are usually on flat canvas boards or canvas boxes, and are ready to hang, with no need for frames.
I hope to re-introduce Musician Linocuts this season and some Hand Printed Table Linens.
All these are handprinted at home, on my studio table - inside during winter, outside under the french vine in lovely weather.
Over the last 20 years I Hand Painted Silks for my friends and family.
I am influenced often by Nature but also by Great Modern 20th Century painters and recently found myself in Saffron Walden, viewing some marvellous Art & Design at the Fry Gallery, where we enjoyed both paintings and drawers of wallpaper design as well as interesting objects and rare china. I am looking forward to an exhibition of Klimt on local cinema screen next week our own town Corn Exchange is showing.
We hope to have a city break in Amsterdam this winter and see the famous canals and sculptors and architecture. Later this year we’ll see the Ashmolean, Oxford’s Colourful new Exhibition. I am always Happily looking at & admiring European Art Galleries at major shows that i enjoy with one of my family or friends.

One day i'll get around to Writing, funny plays and poems no doubt, but for the moment i want to re-create Nature & the colours of fabulous skies and sunsets wherever I happen to be ! There are also a lot of sketchbooks full of musicians at Concerts shared with my husband.

I have the ideas usually & my customers allow me free rein, often just choosing their colours or a Floral or Abstract design. I'm Always inspired by Nature and the latest Exhibitions, from sketches to paintings which catch my eye. But I learnt most of what i know about colours and shape from my Artist & Art Teacher brother, John Meaker, who you can find over at www.AbbotsburyStudio.co.uk and on Facebook.
He taught me long before i studied a BA Textiles & Fashion course at Basingstoke !
These days i learn better in short bursts and can recommend small professional studio practice, like Ardington workshop, nr Wantage, Oxon UK where i had great instruction a few years ago from Laura Boswell, Artist & Lino printer. And a young man printmaker Liam Boswell.
Thanks to them umy own Lino creations are more professional & i'm proud of the skills & cutting techniques I was taught there. But I really miss John Meaker's excellent regular classes in Dorset's : www.AbbotsburyStudio.co.uk such a great Landscape there. Do Look him up he taught me everything I know about painting ! He's been an Art Tutor at Great Missenden & West Dean Collège and teaches LIFE Drawing and Portrait each week.
